El padre de Elder Mamani has died, but he doesn’t seem to care. He still drinks in the karaoke bars, in the streets and gets himself into trouble. But no one wants to look after him any more. His only option is his grandfather’s house on the edge of the mining town. There he’ll have nothing and no one to get melted with. His uncle Francisco, who is also his godfather, has to take him in, giving him a hand and getting him a job down the mine. But Elder doesn’t seem interested in anything, he spends his time swearing as he shovels alongside his godfather, getting lost in the darkness and not working. Anyway, in there he’s heard dark stories about his uncle. They say he’s not as innocent as he seems. You’ve got to know how to get by in this maze, in this dark, unfamiliar place, where everyone’s a stranger. Half mad. It’s the death light that does it.
